Hong Kong is one of two Special Administrative Regions (SARs) of the People’s Republic of China (the other is Macau). It is surrounded by the South China Sea on all sides except the north, which neighbors the Guangdong city of Shenzhen along the Sham Chun River. It is one of the richest and most highly developed parts in the world.
